Baseball commentary from a Phillies perspective
Welcome to Red Pinstripes by me, Tim Curtis. I've been a journalist since 2014 but a baseball fan my entire life.
This is a Phillies-focused baseball newsletter. I’ll be giving my thoughts on the team from the perspective of a lifelong fan. But because I grew up outside the Philadelphia bubble, I think I tend to be more positive and a little less reactionary than those of us who grew up listening to WIP.
If you’re not a Phillies fan, I think Red Pinstripes is still worth the cost (free) of a subscription. I love baseball as much as I love the Phillies. Following great players like Fernando Tatís Jr. and Lance Lynn is just as much fun as watching the Phillies. Actually, this season I think watching these other teams can be more fun most of the time.
Here’s how the newsletter works: twice a week, generally on the first day of a new series, I write about the Phillies. This means I write about how the team’s going, issues surrounding the team, and a preview of the upcoming series. I also include some links to stories about the team.
On Wednesdays, I have MLB Wednesday. That’s when I let loose my thoughts on baseball generally. I’ve written trade deadline previews. odes to Shohei Ohtani and rants about cheap owners. I also include links to stories from around the league and normally offer at least a couple of sentences of my thoughts about the story.
Please, let me know how I’m doing. If there’s something you think I can be doing better, please let me know. If there’s a regular feature you’d like to see, I want to hear about that too.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
